Dear Dan,Our
legwork prior to deciding to use Nudura had taken us to 6
locations using other ICF systems only to discover that the
products used had varying degrees of problems. However,
esthetically the bulges were our deciding factor.
All of the walls appeared to have ¼-3/4" waves in the walls
that in our opinion would have been translated to the interior
finish of the drywall. The only project that we had visited
for Nudura, the installation contractor spoke very highly of
the product, and his job was 100%, with little site mess, very
few blemishes and straight walls.
During our meeting with the manager of Nudura head office,
the balance of the benefits were pointed out, IE the web clips
which prevent floating or separation of the units while
pouring.
Our first experience with Nudura was on a customers cottage
foundation in Muskoka. The project went quite smooth and with
a crew of 2, the 1400 square foot foundation was completed
within a week. Cleanup was a breeze.
Our second experience with Nudura was on our own building
in Parry Sound. The following is our evaluation;
~ Building - 4000 square feet, 17’6" inside height
~ Exterior of the building is pre-finished steel siding
Our 2nd project using Nudura.
1. Costs approximately 25% more to construct than that
of a standard pre-engineered building.
2. Building walls were completed and poured using a
crew of 3 within 7 days, ready to receive roof steel.
3. Heat load originally required a 125kbtu heater for
the warehouse + 25kbtu for the showroom
4. Heat load with ICF was reduced to 77kbtu, using
under-slab insulation and in-floor heating.
(This alone translates into a 50-60% savings of natural
gas.)
5. ICF was used on this project to maintain low
operational costs for our tenants.
Based on the experience of these project, our next 10
buildings (duplexes-48-unit buildings) will be completed with
your system.
Thank you for all of your assistance.
Best regards,
William McKinlay
